Sarah Palin

Is the tide turning against Sarah Palin - I don't know. I think the Democrats are coming at her and over the weekend there was been a plethora of negative articles in the American broadsheets. The always excellent Michael Tomasky puts the best together in his article here
The full articles are available here:
The New York Times
Newsweek
Washington Post

Now the big news is that her yahoo email account has been hacked and all the personal (and official) posted online:

Apparently John McCain is apparently very upset - he was heard to ask 'What's en email?' (ripped off Conan)

Clare vs Tipp U-21 final

The Munster u-21 hurling final took place last night in Ennis and an apparently great game was 'marred by ugly scenes' that broke out at the end.
In essence what happened was that the game was level in injury time, Clare had a puck out and the play went down the Tipperary end of the field and Clare were awarded a free in front of the posts. However the umpire had raised his hand since the puck-out to tell the ref that a free should have been awarded, a 65 was awarded to Tipperary, from which they duly scored and then mayhem broke out - full report here.

Guards were brought onto the field to protect the umpire and ref, the guareds were jostled:

I am a GAA fan but I have to say that this is being treated in a completely typical way - all the comment on this is about the referee & the umpire. If this had happened in a soccer match then there would be uproar and rightfully so.
The Clare fans have behaved despicably.
The GAA should be seriously be considering a ban on inter county matches being held in Clare, they should consider reducing the amount of tickets available to the Clare GAA for matches that Clare are involved in, they should be considering anything but they won't. This will be dismissed again.

The GAA, actually not just the GAA, but the GAA media, are going to let this happen again and again until we get to a stage where something serious happens and it will be too late. There are far too many stories recently about racist chanting at games, refs being pursued after games and many, many other incidents. This is disgraceful but the GAA will ignore, people will say "Sure it was the Ref's fault" and the like. I do not my game, our national game, disgraced in this manner continually until it turns into something that we are embarassed of.
It is time for the GAA to say enough.

Jason Statham

Jason Stratham has a new movie. Well not really - its kinda like his last few movies but has a different name. In this one he plays a tough talking, angry, misunderstood American with an English accent.
The good news is that you don't have to watch the movie - the trailer actually gives you the whole movie - seriously:
Death Race - this summer the only way out is a race to the death!

That is nothing like Oz but its brilliant - its the new Hollywood movie idea - movies in trailers.
Lovejoy? Who knew he had it in him - all those years dealing antiques would prepare for a life of jail and building racing/killing machines. I especially liked the way they worked in the love interest - "wait - instead of him and Joan Allen getting it on, why don't we get a woman into the story line in some other way?"

WTF

Stephen Ireland, a legend in his own mind, is a man with a similiar challenge as myself.
No it's not deciding what colour alloys to put to put on my new car

It's not trying decide what super cool sign-on I should use on Bebo

(more on that here)

No it's a folicle challenge. Last year we thought we had it sorted:

But then (allegedly) Stephen Hunt tried to test the strength of how well the hair transplant had taken, poor Stephen got teased a lot and then decided to just accept it all and has bitten the big bald bullet:

Kudos my man.
But why waste all that time and money on getting the transplant to hide the fact that you're bald, and then put all with all the remarks about it, and then shave it all off. I don't get it. Maybe his grandmother talked to him from beyond the grave. Man, I wish I was a premiership footballer.

The Wire on TG4

The Wire is the greatest TV Show for the last - I don't know - ever? its outstanding - despite repeatedly getting terrible rating, those fine people at HBO have always recommisioned it because it was great viewing. The last series of the Wire will be shown on TG4 at 10.30 on Monday nights from the 28th of July. if you have never seen it - Channel 6 have just started showing from scratch - but its a couple of episodes in already so just go out and buy the goddamn boxsets. Its well worth triple what you'll pay. Here's a clip:

I actually think its better than my second favourite TV show of all time - OZ:
